Apple’s WWDC conference is two weeks away, and the company is preparing to unveil new AI features and home screen customization updates in iOS 18. According to a new claim, one of the notable iOS 18 features will be the ability to create custom emojis using AI.
Mark Gurman: “You’ll be able to create custom emoji with AI in iOS 18”
Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman, known for his Apple news, summarized the expected innovations in iOS 18 and macOS 15. In addition to the AI features that will be brought to apps such as notifications, Photos, Notes, Apple reportedly plans to make its emoji creation tool stand out among users:
“One notable feature will bring AI to emojis. The company is developing software that allows users to create custom emojis on the fly while texting. This means that beyond the emoji options available on iPhone and other devices, you’ll have a brand new emoji for every situation.”
Apple adds new emojis to the iPhone every year with iOS updates. In March, for example, iOS 17.4 added several new emoji characters to the iPhone. This new AI feature means users don’t have to wait for annual updates to customize more emoji.
Gurman also wrote in today’s newsletter that iOS 18 will allow users to recolor app icons to make their home screens more personalized. The update will also allow users to place app icons and widgets more freely on their home screens, allowing them to use them without being tied to the current fixed aligned grid layout.
The AI-based custom emoji creation feature that iOS 18 will bring has created a lot of excitement among users. This innovation seems to take the use of emojis one step further by further personalizing Apple’s user experience. In addition, the ability to recolor app icons and freely change the home screen layout will allow users to further personalize their iPhone experience.
